Founded
in 1996, the Asian Liver Center at Stanford University uses a three-pronged
approach towards fighting hepatitis B through outreach, education, and
research. Specifically, the Asian Liver Center spearheads educational
outreach and advocacy efforts in the areas of hepatitis B and liver
cancer prevention and treatment, serves as a resource for both the general
public and health practitioners, and implements clinical and research
programs. The Jade Ribbon Campaign was launched in May of 2001 to help
spread awareness about hepatitis B and liver cancer in Asian and Pacific

American Liver Foundation (ALF) is a national nonprofit organization
dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and cure of hepatitis and other
liver diseases through research, education, and advocacy on behalf of
those at risk of or affected by liver disease. Through broad-based chapter
support and activities, ALF aims to generate support in the lay and
medical communities that will result in more effective treatment and
prevention, improved care to those afflicted, and cures for those who
